Some thoughts on CoP

Well, given that the LS has a new class of “Promy graduates” (and several people near/in the process of “graduating”), it is inevitable that CoP Mission 2-5 will be asked for again.

Now, for those of you that have been in the LS long enough, you know that several of us attempted this mission a while back; do not kid yourself, this Mission is a pain in the ass – big time…

However, the point of this thread isn’t to reminisce or discuss the scheduling of a run. I came across a thread a while ago (which I cannot seem to find at the moment) regarding a “glitch” for this particular mission. The description of the “glitch” can be found approximately 40% of the way down on the Allakhazam page (linked above).

WARNING: the description is somewhat difficult to read.

I just wanted to hear thoughts, comments?

My personal feelings are very mixed: from the perspective of having not completed the mission – it is great; from the perspective of someone who has completed the mission (dying 4 times in the process and spending ~200k in total) I am very against it.

However, it would be great for the LS if we had a deep-pool of people interested in CoP and obtaining Sea/Limbus.

FWIW: I am currently on CoP 4-2 – farming run anyone? :-)

Glitch?

Now, there's a few "glitches" I've heard of with respect to this (none of them are really "glitches", but rather effects of understanding monster enmity and hate control). Which one are you talking of?

Is it the one where a PLD goes in and aggroes the Mammets, without engaging, and just heals themselves (possibly with another healer) while people strip off Mammets one at a time?

Or is it the one where you use a deathga+reraise strategy (which is how we ultimately won yours, but not how I ultimately won mine)?

Also, do you want this on the front page? Or is this post not front page material?

Glitch

I wouldn't move this to the front page (as much as I would like an active discussion, I don't want to leave non-ClanAM visitors with the impression that I or ClanAM advocate this).

No, this is a "glitch" glitch...

The jist is: 5/6 members enter BC, 1/6 members stays in CS. 4/6 members inside the BC log off; the remaining person aggros Mammets, brings back to warp thingy and dies

The Mammets aggro the member who is still in the CS (he/she is effectively invincible) and the other 4 Members log back in. These 4 people proceed to kill 2 Mammets (who can now be pulled one at time, no links, no aggro).

On the final Mammet Raise dead PT member; PT member stuck in CS enters BC - win and go home happy.

Ah yes

Yeah, I know of this "glitch" too.

I still wouldn't call this a glitch per se either. Again, this is just understanding two simple facts of the game 1) enmity control and 2) safety in cutscenes. It's not exactly what I would call a glitch...

I'd probably call it exploiting two competing design goals.
