Bugard in the Clouds

Anyway, it was a MOST entertaining evening! LOL!

Two things on our ENM run...

1) That Bugard is a prick: We must have had him @ 2% HP and then he went all ape-shit and kicked our asses. Of course, not knowing that he would pull that cheesy bullshit, I fired Freeze @ the 20% mark - Freeze ftl!

2) It must have been late. Tam did say "Oh noes" at some point in the party chat. Perhaps after I started shouting at the non-existent gil sellers in the BC?

Yeah, that fight was hilarious.

I remember at around 50% everyone was like "This guy sucks!" and "What a wuss!" and then he started kicking our asses at 2%.

Hundred Fists, just for your information, chews through shadows. I'd suggest to actually beat this mother we would have a second PLD tank for that last little bit. I think NIN probably works best up until the end (simply because he hits so slowly, and yet his hits are SO powerful, that a NIN can easily avoid most of his hits). However, as soon as Hundred Fists hits, a PLD with Invincible (hell, or a THF with Perfect Dodge) would be needed.

Also, I don't think we had a stunner in the group last night (Cyc doesn't count, he sucks). A dedicated stunner, maybe even a BRD to sleep, or a RDM to Gravity as we drag him around, anything to curb the effects of Invincible+Hundred Fists would be needed to win.

Honestly, a good Gravity + Sleep with a tank voking and dragging him around the arena until his 2 hours wear off would probably have been enough to beat him.

STUN

On stun:

Ok stun is actual a difficult beast, and like anyone who has been on with me on both my good days and my bad days they can vouch that my skill as a BLM stunner is highly dependent on; current exaustion level, My connection rate, and weather or not SE is gonna let my Stun macros work properly. Ok so lately i only have my equip switch macro hence some of the slow stuns sam has personaly witnessed.

BLM also have the huge difficult of the cool down timer, not with stun but with other spells, as cyc now can vouch the most anoying timers in the game are the AM ones... they cast at 75% and there is an almost 2-3 sec wait for it to hit 100% then you have to wait for the spacial timer to tick off... (this is the space between casting spells i think its 1/10th of a sec) So BLM should never be primary Stunners... One other thing TP attacks come in 3 varieties: Easily Stunnable, such attacks as "bomb toss" where the mob has to cast the attack, Difficult stunable, attacks like "death trap" where the casting timer is short, cyc witnessed me stun this on our Assult run... Impossible to stun, majority of attacks are like this such as light of pendance, or the mob stunning attacks like Slam Dunk.. these cast instantly, i have actual gotten the stun off between the time it said it was using it and and it used it, it won't stun the attack.

Other suggestions:
Primary stunners-> Dynumis Lord Method: RDM/DRK... two hour spamm stun, BLU -> set with all stunning attacks there are at least 5 and one of which the casting timer and recast is super short.

DRK-> Should use weapon bash, stun and WS with stun effect... this gives them a possibility of 3x stuns in a given round of combat.

BLM-> spell stun ONRY

PLD-> WS if they have tp should be stunning, since most of the time pld solo ws ne ways, and Shield bash... possibilty 2x stun

SAM-> after a sam gets Meditate and with there 2hr they can stun 5x in a round of combat

Other Melee-> WS with stun, this is a common problem with low lvl parties, a party with a mnk in the dunes can stun at least one bomb toss per mob, seeing as how sholder tackle stuns and is relativly low, AND must ppl don't set up WS in the dunes, so this is another classic example of ppl not understanding there jobs. I commonly stun when i'm soloing a WS on my melees, why? because its smart.

For another interesting debate, please talk to golagres about when a NIN should use a GK rather than duel-wield Katanas, i'm sure you'll be suprised in the logic of its use, and finally understand why SE gave NIN GK skill and the ability to wield some GKs... Latas
