Kicking your RSE

Kicking your RSE - Part III
Submitted by ravenclaw on Fri, 08/27/2004 - 15:59.

In our first installment we talked about what RSE was and why you'd want it. In the second installment, Sam gave a bit more detail for getting your RSE and using it. Now, let's wrap things up by talking about where you actually get your RSE, and what mobs you need to kill.

Gusgen Mines

The entrance to Gusgen is located in Konschat Highlands. It is roughly a level 20-45 dungeon. It can also be one of the freakiest dungeons in the game (there was some horribly tragedy that happenned here in the past and now the place is haunted).

Many people consider Gusgen to be the easiest place to get your RSE because the mobs here can be pushovers even at lower levels. The biggest problem with the place however is the fact that it is so sprawling and the chest spawns are spread all over the place. Because of this, Gusgen is not my favorite place for RSE.

The specific enemies you need to kill in order to get the chest key (and there may be others, these are the ones I have verified) are:

  • Gallinipper
  • Rancid Ooze
  • Banshee
  • Mauthe Dog
  • Myconid
  • Wight
  • Ghast
  • Spunkie
  • Amphisbeana
  • Greater Pugil

Some people claim that Banshees and Sad Flies drop as well, but in my entire time doing it, I have never seen it.

The chest spawns can be found in this map: http://www.zebraflood.com/ninja/rse/mines.html.

Shakhrami Maze

Shak Maze is located in Tahronghi Canyon just north of Windhurst (it took me forever to find this place, I was from Sandy). An alternative entrance can be found in Buburimu Penninsula. The level of the dungeon is 15-45, but most of the enemies you will be fighting for the key are 35-45.

Shak Maze can be a hard place to get your RSE. The enemies are difficult and the chest spawns are all over the place and hard to reach. Most of the chest spawns and the enemies that drop the keys are found on the Buburimu side, so I would highly recommend going there.

The enemies I have found that drop the key are:

  • Goblin Furrier
  • Goblin Shaman
  • Goblin Pathfinder
  • Goblin Smithy
  • Caterchipillar
  • Wight
  • Labyrinth Scorpion

Again, others online suggest other mobs. In Shak Maze, I have found that the Goblin Shamans, Pathfinders, and the Scorpions tend to drop much more frequently, so my advice is to focus on them.

Ordelle's Cave

Ordelles is located at the bottom of the crevaces in La Theine south of Sandy. It can be a pretty tough place, mobs levels 20-45. Most of the enemies you want will be levels 32 and higher. Many people say online that this is the worst location to get your RSE, but I disagree. In my opinion, Ordelles is the best place for your RSE. You will find a lot more chest spawns here (more easily too) and the enemies that drop the keys are abundant. You will definately need a party to survive, but it will go much quicker here than anywhere else.

The list of mobs that drop keys that we have confirmed are:

  • Goblin Shaman
  • Goblin Smithy
  • Goblin Pathfinder
  • Goliath Beetle
  • Stroper
  • Stroper Chyme

The Goblins, Beetle, and Stroper all seem to drop keys very regularily. In fact, the Stropers have dropped a key every time we have fought them. And the stropers are near several spawn points. My advice is to camp the stropers and the chest spawns near them for best results. Be sure to have a WHM or RDM to help reduce the various status effects these guys will give you.

RSE Timer

One thing we both failed to mention in the book is that there are some great online timers for figuring out when your RSE will be.
